Money by Rob Moore Financial independence is a desire that is ingrained in most, if not all people in the first world. It's easy to feel like the gap between the money you earn/make and the money you need to live the life you want is just too great. Achieving the goal of wealth and financial independence seems therefore an uphill task that would likely never materialize. What with the too many bills to be paid, unachievable work targets, lack of time to build on new ideas plus many more. Understanding the game is the first step to winning it, as evidence has it that you can’t win a game you don’t understand. If you're not where you want to be in your life with money and wealth, then it's important to "close the gap" - and get on track to creating the success that you want. So how can you win with the book Money? How can you create independent wealth and hold on to it? This inspiring book by self-made multi-millionaire Rob Moore explains the rules of the game, shares simple tricks for managing money better, he details how to create a plan for an ambitious future, and shows you the very best way to become a millionaire - to think and behave like one! Rob Moore is described biographically as a self-made property investor, businessman, entrepreneur, best-selling author, world record holder, speaker, pilot & proud dad, who co-owns 7 companies in property, lettings & finance. This tells you that you are learning from a pro that can mentor you to achieve success in business and life. My take on this book is that it’s a deep dive into the history of money, how it flows and how literally ANYONE in the first world can grow their financial position. My preference was to listen to it on Audible, however the hardback is due out soon. www.audible.com.au/pd/Business/Money-Audiobook The Slight Edge “Unlock your Inner Winner” by Jeff Olsen When a renowned reader and reviewer writes, “I’ve read this, that, and the other…all great books. But if I had to choose one to base my philosophy and skill sets (and consequently my success) upon, it’s this…” then you know you have a great book. Actually, it is more than one reader who has had such a description of the book, “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson. They describe it as “not just another personal development book, but an entirely new way of thinking, processing information that enables one to make simple daily choices that would lead to the desired success and happiness. The author isn’t just narrating the story of his discoveries. He is describing a way of creating life-changing dynamics. Decision-making in business is critical and especially the daily decisions. The Slight Edge shows how our daily decisions can be the ultimate key to our success. Olson describes himself as "a perpetual student of personal development," and he is as devoted to health and happiness as he is to personal and financial success. He has worked with a number of companies on sales, marketing and distribution, building three different sales and distribution forces into multimillion dollar organizations from scratch. This serves to confirm that we are dealing with an insider as far as business is concerned. The Slight Edge, someone has written, “is "the key" that will make all the other personal development books and tools that you consume actually work.” Unlock your inner winner with The Slight Edge. My take on this book is that it was pivotal in my mindset shift towards taking daily action for a future goal. It’s too easy to become overwhelmed with massive goals that at the time of setting them seem unachievable. This book helped me settle my mind amongst the chaos of reaching large goals and focus on the daily stuff. Go for No! by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz The most empowering word in the world is a “No!” Sounds unbelievable, right? Well people have varied experiences in life that shape their thinking and way of doing things. There are the common experiences where we work towards getting to “Yes”, whether it be in sales, business, relationships, self-growth and improvement. There are some uncommon experiences that speak the opposite. Focusing on how increasing your failure rate can greatly accelerate your movement toward ultimate success! This is what the book, “Go for No!” is about. One review that stands out says, "If you want to take this road less traveled, get a hold of Go for No! Read it, practice it and master it. In time you'll create so much success that people will start asking you how you got so lucky and why everything you do seems to be a success. If only they knew." It is easy to think that is an exaggeration, a marketing gimmick, but a look at other reviews reveals the same trend, meaning that there is something life-changing in this book. The authors of this book, Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz are described as the “Courage Crafters”, and they describe themselves as “Failure Philosophers” and “Reject-ologists”! What a description! But this confirms that the principles shared in the book aren’t just an imagination of another writer, but tested principles that work. This book, describes how one salesman learns great lessons that change the way he thinks, the way he sells and the way he lives his life. You too will learn these lessons, and there are plenty of them, including, “What it takes to outperform 92% of the world’s salespeople”, “Failing and being a “failure” are two very different things”, “Why it’s important to celebrate success and failure”, “The five failure levels and how to progress through them”, “How to get past failures quickly and then move on” and of course the mind-challenging, “The most empowering word in the world is not yes… it’s NO!” In my opinion this book is a must read. It took me just an hour to read it. A quick and important lesson. I loved it, and have since read it 4 or 5 more times, just when I have some free time. www.amazon.com.au/d/Audible/Go-Yes-Destination-How-You-Get Unshakeable by Tony Robbins and Peter Mallouk When a man, who has coached more than fifty million people from across the globe and is referred to as world’s number one life and business strategist teams up with another man, described as the only man in history to be ranked number one financial advisor in the US for three consecutive years by Barron’s, the outcome can only be the best of the best. Tony Robbins and Peter Mallouk have combined efforts in their book, “Unshakeable” to produce a step-by-step playbook, taking you on a journey to transform your financial life and accelerate your path to financial freedom. Together, they reveal how to become unshakeable—someone who can not only maintain true peace of mind in a world of immense uncertainty, economic volatility, and unprecedented change, but who can profit from the fear that immobilizes so many. Oprah Winfrey and Bill Clinton are some of the people who have penned positive opinions of the book. Through this book, you can identify steps that results in, “Creating peace of mind in a world of volatility.” Whilst the messages are related to US and 401k etc, the lessons and methods are transferrable to any reader in the world. Since reading this book I’ve added Index funds to my investment strategy as I see how simple yet compounding it is. I wish I could get everyone under 30 to read this book, as they’ll realize that there’s no point waiting to invest. Start straight away. Great book with Tony Robbins narrating much of it - Gotta love Tony’s inspiring tone and passion. www.audible.com.au/pd/Health-Personal-Development/Unshakeable-Audiobook The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris How do you work less and live more? The answer is in this book, “The 4 hour work week”. The author gives the blueprint for whatever dream one has, whether it is escaping the rat race, enjoying high-end world travel, or laying hands on a five-figure monthly income with zero management. The 4 hour workweek is guide to luxury lifestyle design and describes a number of concepts including how Tim went from $40,000 per year and 80 hours per week to $40,000 per month and 4 hours per week; how to outsource your life to overseas virtual assistants for $5 per hour and do whatever you want; how blue-chip escape artists travel the world without quitting their jobs; how to eliminate 50% of your work in 48 hours using the principles of a forgotten Italian economist; how to trade a long-haul career for short work bursts and frequent “mini-retirements”, all important lessons for someone who aims at financial independence and a choice lifestyle. I personally took some fundamental lessons from this book and almost immediately outsourced 2 or 3 tasks that I realized were not worth my own time. I’m now focusing on other areas and as my business and property portfolio grows I’ll be leveraging the time of other talented people to help me focus on the important stuff. An added bonus to my outsourcing meant that I can provide some one in Africa with an additional income and have met a few more lovely people. That's all folks, please feel free to comment or take the conversation online and connect with us on Facebook etc. PnP
